Patent Specialist Jobs description
A patent specialist dockets and assists in managing worldwide patent prosecution matters including office actions, issuances, maintenance fees, and other patent deadlines and filings. A patent specialists’ work also involves obtaining and collating patent and non-patent literature for office actions needing review by company patent attorneys for decision making. A patent specialist updates and maintains patent docketing information, in both electronic and paper format, as well as maintain patent and trademark filing system and archiving. A patent specialist prepares and files formal papers for patent applications including obtaining signatures for declarations and assignments from company and collaborating scientists.For patent specialist college degree is preferred but it is not necessary. In addition, experience in patent law is preferred. A patent specialist should possess proficiency in use of on-line databases and computer software programs specific to patent area. Excellent organization, communication and computer skills, including microsoft word, excel, access, lotus notes, powerpoint is also required for patent specialist.
