is seeking a Trademark Docketing Specialist

with prior docketing experience to join our growing practice in Raleigh, NC. The is a newly created position and will support all aspects of U.S. and foreign trademark docketing, copyrights, TTAB and will assist with due diligence projects. This role is a vital part of the team supporting a Trademark attorney and a paralegal.


Maintain docket records and information via an electronic docketing system.

Docket trademark application filings, incoming office actions, formalities and all other correspondence related to the filing, prosecution, opposition and litigation of trademark matters.

Update the docket daily based on incoming/outgoing correspondence received from the USPTO, U.S. Copyright Office, international trademark offices, and foreign agents.

Prepare and proactively schedule periodic docket reports per office procedures as well as prepare, maintain, and distribute additional various reports as needed or requested.

Issue new docket number requests and


opening of all new matters.

Continually review outstanding open dates in electronic docket system and follow up on and/or advance dates in accordance with existing country law and practice procedures.

Assist with coordination of ITU and maintenance filings.

Update the docketing database for transfer-in and transfer-out


and changes in client information.

Conduct periodic system reviews and proactively perform internal audits/self-checks or other quality controls of the docket system.

Assist staff and attorneys with other tasks as needed. May be requested to perform other duties as required.


Requirements and Expectations:

Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred along with one to three years of substantive experience in IP computerized docket databases in a law firm setting.

Working knowledge of procedures and practices before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and PDF manipulation software (PDF Docs, Adobe, etc.). In addition, preference for experience with using trademark specific applications (CPI, PATTSY, etc.) and other technology related to document management (OpenText eDocs, iManage, etc.), time and billing (Elite, Abacus), and client interactions (ShareFile) to effectively support and maintain the firm’s trademark practice.

Be exceptionally well organized, analytical, and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment; leverage technology to gain maximum efficiency and continually adapt to changing priorities and

ever evolving

technology in a fast-paced work setting. Able to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent grammar usage and proofreading skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel, outside clients, vendors, USPTO and foreign agents.

Be self-motivated and able to work effectively independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
