We are seeking a new Director, Intellectual Property to join our world-class legal team. This is a critical position that will oversee the IP strategy for the company both domestically and abroad.
Manage a build a world-class intellectual property portfolio, including through the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications relating to the company’s food science innovations.
Oversee strategy for protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights around the globe.
Ensure best practices with respect to inbound and outbound licensing.
Conduct validity and non-infringement analyses, patent searching, third-party patent portfolio assessments, freedom to operate analyses, and due diligence.
Advise on intellectual-property aspects of corporate partnerships and acquisitions.
Manage relationships with external counsel.
J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience at a major law firm and/or an in-house IP department with a demonstrated history of success; prior in-house experience is strongly preferred.
Significant experience in life sciences and/or biotechnology patent preparation, prosecution, and portfolio development.
Familiarity with both U.S. and non-U.S. IP rules, regulations, and procedures.
Fluency in non-patent IP matters and strategic issues.
