Boeing Engineering Test and Tech is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent & Invention Protection Specialist to join their dynamic team. This position is a unique opportunity for an experienced patent professional with an intellectual property background and the desire to expand their skill set into aerospace technology.
This position leads the capture and evaluation of inventions in support of Boeing’s patent portfolio. An ideal candidate works closes with innovators to identify inventions and capture information and details for patent evaluation. Work closely with patent portfolio managers to make patent filing decisions and complete work packages in preparation of patent applications. This work statement includes providing Intellectual Property training, advising stakeholders how to protect their intellectual property, conduct innovation workshops and support development of strategic IP plans.
Leads invention evaluation process for programs and technologies. Identifies and develops patentability solutions.
Advises stakeholders on identifying inventions.
Prospects/harvests invention disclosures in strategic technology and key business unit program areas.
Reviews invention disclosure upon receipt.
Advises contractors and intellectual property attorneys to identify reportable inventions.
Supports stakeholders on foreign filing country selections and patent portfolio maintenance pruning decisions.
Advises on timely filing of patent applications and prosecution to develop a quality global portfolio.
Supports portfolio mining to leverage IP values/strategy development as required.
Conducts forums and workshops for patent application, development and trade secret protection.

Basic Qualifications (Required for consideration):
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Technical Bachelor's degree - A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
Experience evaluating inventions and/or innovations for patentability
Proficiency with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Effective communication and presentations skills
Experience working with processes and procedures for protecting Intellectual Property (IP)
Patent prosecution experience or patent examiner experience
USPTO patent registration
Engineering or product development experience
Typical Education and Experience for this level (3):
Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
