Job Description:
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sort stock that cannot be bound because of poor printing, dog-ears, off-fold, smears, tears or other defects
Check for quality defects and errors
Take corrective action without assistance from the Operator
Lead work area in attainment of quality and production standards
Identify and ensure defective materials are not forwarded to the customer
Attain a thorough working knowledge of your responsibilities for make-readies and be able to perform them with no direction or guidance from the Operator
Effectively lead work area in following the bindery break-up instructions meeting established production
Learn how to read and understand a packer layout, job break-up, run order and 9-shift layout
Participate in office copy runs by examining magazines and informing the Operator of quality defects
Lead the work area in returning rejected stock to usable condition for use on completion of job
With an understanding of the expectations, set the work area's break procedures and enforce them
Relieve crewmembers, as appropriate, including the Operator
Properly record and submit oversheet, reclaim, and back-end spoilage statistics on appropriate data collection sheets.
Set the example and enforce the maintenance of a safe, clean and orderly working environment
Communicate efficiently with all members of the team
Minimum Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work safely in current job.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
Must be capable of adapting to a constantly changing work situation and assuming personal responsibility for own actions.
Must be able to read, understand and appropriately respond to written and verbal instructions.
Must be willing to abide by department and division practices and standards (including shift rotation).
Must be able and willing to work the average overtime hours for the position.
Must be able to stand up to 11.5 hours with periodic breaks.
Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally; 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to use visual acuity to read instructions and perform key job responsibilities.
Preferred Requirements
Prior leadership experience.
Prior Bindery experience.
