The Trademark Docketing Paralegal is responsible for the daily docketing activities of the Intellectual Property Practice Group’s trademark prosecution business.
Job Functions:
Daily mail review and data entry for filings submitted to USPTO, communications received from USPTO, and communications between Choate and foreign associates.
Review docket for deadlines and manage assignments in support of our clients’ global trademark portfolios.
Draft and maintain trademark status reports for clients. Run reports and respond to data inquiry requests from attorneys.
Reconcile CPI database records, files and USPTO and foreign trademark office records.
Import/profile documents into paperless filing system on an ongoing basis.
New trademark file intake (review and import).

Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in trademark prosecution docketing.
Strong attention to detail, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the company's IP affairs.
Must be highly accurate, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressures, and be able to communicate effectively with personnel on all levels.
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team and manage a variety of tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must have knowledge and understanding of trademark terminology and filing procedures including both US and foreign matters and knowledge and understanding of current USPTO rules and procedures.
Working knowledge of docketing software, preferably CPI or IP Foundation software.
Must have strong PC skills in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, scanning and faxing.
Physical Requirements:
Must have minimal physical mobility. Position may occasionally require standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
Must have the ability to operate equipment such as a computer and copy machine.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly and to read and follow detailed instructions.
Must have the ability to prepare assorted documents and other related materials.
Must have the ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
