The Strategic Partnerships team is charged with identifying, cultivating, and developing strong partnerships and businesses to deliver the best products. The Executive Director of Business Development is a key member of the team, representing the group with critical technology partners and will work closely with Comcast Executive Leadership, Product Development, Engineering, Legal, and NBCUniversal to successfully execute on long term growth initiatives with a focus on emerging technologies and services.

- Serve as the primary business development contact to potential external partners, current partners, and industry organizations with responsibility for discussing strategy, negotiating agreements and managing key performance metrics. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and business units to ensure that deals represent interests across Comcast & NBCU.

- Proactively monitor, assess, and share trends in residential, enterprise, and carrier networking and communications technologies.

- Gain external and internal support to launch new partnership, product or service through detailed assessment of benefits and risks. Develop business cases to size and support potential strategic partnership and technology opportunities.

- Work with leadership to establish key performance metrics and reports for business objectives; provide regular updates to executive stakeholders on partnership portfolio and market activities.

- Define and negotiate contracts, working closely with Comcast Legal and Comcast Business Unit leadership.

Core Responsibilities:

- Focus on voice and data businesses and monetization opportunities (e.g., new technologies such as 5G and mesh, products and feature build-outs, international call plans)

- Drive partner relationships across startups, established companies, VCs and others

- Advise internal teams on best practices in wireless and wired networking business models and industry trends

- Lead strategic business arrangements and relationships for new business, product, and technology opportunities.

- Direct responsibility for monitoring the performance of current agreements and influencing changes as needed.

- Leveraging existing and new relationships, proactively identify and respond to requests from potential partners, evaluate partnership opportunities and conclude partnership negotiations.

- Working with the teams across Philadelphia, Denver, and Sunnyvale, evaluate and negotiate key business parameters, licensing terms, strategic alliances and development opportunities.

- Support technical teams to analyze new initiatives and recommend best models of engagement based upon the total cost of deployment.

- Perform financial analyses and supports other analysis and business planning as necessary.

- Work closely with the Comcast Ventures and other product groups in the on the East Coast and Silicon Valley to help support existing and future partnerships and the development of new product concepts.

- Documents market and competitive positions and profiling.

- Collaborates with Public Relations, Marketing, Government Relations, Regional Network functions to maximize Company's return investment.

- Leads strategic planning process and promotes ongoing strategic development.

- Leads and direct accountability for monitoring and assessing strategic initiatives implementation.

- Staffs strategic planning process and leads development of corporate planning documents, tracking, and reporting.

- Provides the business development skills and leadership required to increase business area performance, customer satisfaction, and business capture objectives within the Company.

- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specification:

- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent

- Generally requires 14 years related experience

Additional Desired Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced business development executive who has a passion for identifying new technologies and platforms that drive innovation as well as monetization. A proven track record driving deals to closure with quantifiable results will be required.

The successful candidate must have a strong desire to be part of the fastest growing business segment and an understanding of advanced video distribution technology within the CableTV, Satellite or Internet industries. This executive will have a strong grasp of traditional Technology and Communications (cable/MSO) convergence in new media as well as excellent understanding of technology companies and their strategic goals. Deep knowledge of and relationships with technology companies a plus as is experience with software and intellectual property licensing.

- Serve as the primary business development contact to potential external partners, current partners, and industry organizations with responsibility for discussing strategy, negotiating agreements and managing key performance metrics. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and business units to ensure that deals represent interests across Comcast & NBCU.

Business Acumen

- Ability to effectively evangelize a new technology internally and in the marketplace; strong conceptual ability in how to create a value proposition for partners and drive solutions.

- Experience working with legal and finance departments for closing business agreements; ability to negotiate letters of intent and deal documents.

- Experience building financial models and business plans for partnerships or new business opportunities.

- Smart business executive who can deal with complexity and think strategically as well as innovatively about a wide range of deals; experience in accessing, summarizing and reporting on financial documents.

- Solutions orientated business executive; ability to think fast and move quickly to find the right offerings that will meet partner needs.

- Thoroughly comfortable with latest technology tools, technologies and devices.

- Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.


- Ability to communicate the higher-level business and strategic goals of the organization to the external clients and partners.

- Construct, qualify and maintain a robust and dynamic deal pipeline, optimizing deal conversion rates and delivering margins / deal profitability.

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to pragmatically evaluate commercial concerns and customer/partner needs.

- Exceptional ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and hands-on operational levels.

- Consistently meets or exceeds goals; conveys a sense of urgency and drives projects to closure.

- Acts as a catalyst and engages the team through his/her enthusiasm and excitement about the business and opportunity.
