Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal in the Intellectual Property Department of our Phoenix office.  We offer competitive compensation, an excellent benefits package and a team oriented environment.   

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to: draft US and PCT patent application transmittal papers, prepare and file US and international trademark applications; prepare and review correspondence to/from foreign associates regarding new patent and trademark applications, formal requirements, filing details, office actions and response; draft and coordinate execution of assignments, power of attorney, declarations, petitions, request for extension of time, missing parts response, notice of appeal, information disclosure statements, requests for corrected documents and perform status checks; monitor due dates with responsible attorneys; and corresponding with clients to get instructions and invention disclosures.  Coordination with in-house and outside counsel and other patent paralegals as necessary on US and foreign patent and trademark application filings and patent/trademark office communications.

The ideal candidate will have well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to work independently and in a team environment with a customer service focus; strong organizational skills; the ability to multi-task and prioritize their workload in a pressured environment and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.  

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Prior Experience

Candidate must have experience dealing with USPTO and solid understanding of both the US and foreign patent and trademark lifecycles as well as experience with US and foreign patent and trademark prosecution rules.  Bachelor's degree and/or a paralegal certificate are required. Candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a patent and/or trademark prosecution paralegal preferably in a law firm environment. Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and research tools.
