Litigation Associate Jobs
A litigation associate is responsible for drafting and reviewing complaints and motions, communicating with courts, and performing legal research. A litigation associate’s job includes taking depositions, drafting briefs and pleadings, handling all aspects of discovery including factual investigations, working with paralegals and junior associates, and working on a wide variety of litigation and counseling matters. As a key team member a litigation associate is engaged in a wide range of tasks and is often responsible for day-to-day communications with clients and opposing counsel. A litigation associate counsels clients directly on various employment issues, including employee hiring, discipline and terminations, trade secrets protection, contracts, employment policies, regulatory compliance, and international employment. A litigation associate drafts a variety of complex documents, such as pleadings, discovery, correspondence, employment contracts, termination agreements and position statements filed with government agencies. A litigation associate participates in all aspects of complex litigation in state and federal courts.
A litigation associate requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, along with 2+ years if litigation experience with significant transactional experience. Excellent academic credentials are preferred, analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills are required. A litigation associate’s experience should include pre-trial discovery, law and motion practice, and taking and defending depositions. A litigation associate should have a strong knowledge of patent and litigation, and should have ability to work independently and effectively communicates among high-level individuals.
