Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Jobs
An intellectual property litigation associate is responsible for legal research of patent litigation issues, drafting pleadings, declarations, discovery responses, briefs on procedural, taking and defending lay and expert depositions, claim construction hearings, technical product inspections and related inspection protocols. An intellectual property litigation associate undertakes preparation of pretrial orders including trial exhibit lists, jury instructions, verdict forms and special interrogatories, trial briefs and demonstrative exhibits. An intellectual property litigation associate works with expert witnesses, typically patent experts and scientific experts. An intellectual property litigation associate contacts them, vetting their conflicts and helping them edit their expert reports as well as prepares them for depositions, taking their depositions, and defending our experts’ depositions. An intellectual property litigation associate participates in all aspects of complex litigation in both state and federal courts. An intellectual property litigation associate manages the discovery process, including interviewing witnesses, collecting evidences and taking and defending depositions, negotiating with opposing counsels, and writing and preparing complex motions.
An intellectual property litigation associate requires a law degree and strong academic credentials. An intellectual property litigation associate must have 3+ years of litigation associate experience in the areas of intellectual property and general commercial civil litigation, in both state and federal court. A patent bar membership and a technical background is beneficial. An intellectual property litigation associate should have strong knowledge of patent and litigation and should possess the ability to work independently and effectively communicate among high-level individuals. Highly effective communication skill (both oral and in written) is a must.
