Intellectual Property Associate Jobs
An intellectual property associate assists clients in resolving disputes involving patent, trademark, and copyright issues, including federal and state court litigation, as well as mediation and arbitration proceedings. An intellectual property associate advices regarding protecting trademarks from infringement and dilution and also provides trademark litigation (prosecution and defense) in the courts. An intellectual property associate undertakes transactional work (trade marks, patents, design rights, advertising and marketing properties, copyright and unfair competition), intellectual property litigation (particularly patent, trade mark, copyright and confidential information litigation), pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare (patent litigation, licensing and transactional work across the sector), internet-related advice (e-commerce, m-commerce and new media issues, including website development, encryption, e-banking and licensing issues as well as international cyber-piracy and domain name disputes). An intellectual property associate also manages intellectual property portfolios (including IP strategies, structure and management of portfolios within specific company tax structures, protection and enforcement), telecom transactional work (such as roaming agreements, interconnection agreements and network outsourcing agreements) and - data protection (advising on stand – alone projects and corporate transactions).
An intellectual property associate should be a lawyer with strong technical and commercial background and with at least 3 years\' experience at a leading IP practice. An intellectual property associate must be able communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to establish and maintain effective work relationships. An intellectual property associate should be good at preparing and negotiating intellectual property and research-oriented agreements. An intellectual property associate should be able to work effectively as part of a team and supervise more junior lawyers.
