A copyright litigator gets involved in policing the market to make sure people aren't infringing their patent. A copyright litigator creates a complete portfolio that contains all versions of client's creative work before starting litigation. This helps prove the date and the process of creation, regardless of the media used. A copyright litigator assist the client in going to court and seeking some type of compensation or injunction from the court to prevent the infringement, if there is a company or an individual infringing their patent. A copyright litigator helps the client work with the alleged infringer and work out a settlement of some type, across licensing agreement. The other side is helping accused infringers explain why they are infringing someone's patent. A copyright litigator also spends a lot of time reviewing documents and not from the standpoint of reading, but from the standpoint of analyzing strategy of their opponent and what their company was doing over the years from a business standpoint.

A copyright litigator requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or other relevant field. A degree in law is a must. A copyright litigator should have experience of 2+ years in the areas of copyright litigation or intellectual property. Experience of pre-trial discovery, law and motion practice taking and defending is important. A copyright litigator should be results oriented with an ability to drive a project through to completion, and be able to work autonomously within a team environment. A strong communication skills and a 'can do' approach are essential.
